Is this my “real” Chinese name?
No. It is a phonetic entertainment nickname. A real Chinese name is usually chosen with meaning, family conventions, character preferences, and cultural context.
Why does my result not sound exactly like my English name?
English and Mandarin use different sound systems. Some consonants, clusters, vowels, and endings do not map cleanly. The generator also intentionally compresses some names.
Why did two similar names get different characters?
The generator may use curated mappings for common names and fallback rules for unfamiliar ones. The rules are designed for recognizable, short results rather than strict linguistic consistency.
Does the site save the name I type?
The production version may log submitted names, generated results, timestamps, and limited technical information so we can operate the site, prevent abuse, and improve poor results. See the Privacy Policy.
Can I delete a submitted name?
Once the logging system is live, contact us with enough information to identify the submission and we will review deletion requests where reasonably possible.
Why does the site look like it is from 2001?
That is intentional. The interface is a parody/homage to early Chinese web portals and internet-café-era design.
Are all those ads real?
No. Many period-style graphics are fictional parody ads. Any paid or programmatic advertising is separately labeled “广告 / Advertisement.”
Can I share my result?
Yes. Use the 分享 button on the generator. We are also building a more visual share-card version.
