This Privacy Policy explains how whatsmychinese.name may handle information when you use the Chinese phonetic name generator.
Information you provide
When you submit a name, the production service may store the submitted text, the generated phonetic result, the generated Chinese characters, the generation mode or engine version, and the time of the request. If feedback features are enabled, we may also store the feedback associated with that result.
Technical information
Our hosting, security, analytics, and advertising providers may automatically process information such as IP address, browser type, device information, approximate location derived from IP, referring page, and server logs. The application does not need a raw IP address in its name-generation database in order to generate a result, although infrastructure providers may process IP addresses as part of normal web operation and security.
Cookies and advertising
If advertising such as Google AdSense is enabled, advertising providers may use cookies or similar technologies to serve, measure, limit, or personalize ads as permitted by their policies and your region. Real paid advertising will be labeled separately from the site’s fictional retro advertisement graphics.
How we use information
- Generate and display the requested result.
- Understand which phonetic rules produce poor or confusing outputs.
- Maintain security, diagnose errors, and prevent abuse.
- Measure site usage and performance.
- Operate advertising or other monetization if enabled.
Names can be personal information
Please do not submit private information you do not want processed. A name can identify a person when combined with other information. The site is intended for ordinary names and nicknames, not passwords, account numbers, medical information, or other sensitive data.
Retention and deletion
We may retain operational logs and name-generation records for as long as reasonably useful for site operation, security, and improving the generator, unless a shorter period is required by law or we choose to delete them sooner. You may contact us regarding a deletion or privacy request.
Children
The site is a general-audience novelty tool and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children under the age required by applicable law.
